Notre Dame and BYU are heading to Sin City for a seemingly out-of-place battle of independents in Week 6.
The Fighting Irish and Cougars will play at the Raiders' Allegiant Stadium — officially ruled a home game for BYU despite the neutral site — in a battle of college football's top religiously affiliated programs.
BYU will rely on quarterback Jaren Hall in its bid to take down the Fighting Irish: The 6-1, 205-pound junior signal-caller has completed 120 of 171 passes for 1,438 yards and 12 touchdowns to just one interception. The Cougars also have a pair of runners who average at least six yards per carry in Christopher Brooks (294 yards, four touchdowns, 6.0 ypc) and Miles Davis (167 yards, 7.0 ypc).
Meanwhile, Notre Dame will continue with quarterback Drew Pyne in replacement of Tyler Buchner. The backup-turned-starter has guided the Fighting Irish back from a disastrous 0-2 start to beat Cal and North Carolina, teams against whom he completed 41 of 57 (71.9 percent) for five touchdowns.
