Texas narrowly missed an opportunity last season to prove that a former powerhouse program was back. One year later, a road win over Alabama would serve as the latest indication that the Longhorns are entering a new era.

Texas is undoubtedly salivating at the chance to avenge last year’s heartbreaking loss, which came after quarterback Quinn Ewers was knocked out of the game with a shoulder injury. This year, Ewers is back healthy while Alabama is fielding an inexperienced Jalen Milroe at quarterback.
The odds are still stacked against Steve Sarkisian, who is seeking to become only the third former Nick Saban assistant to beat the master. Jimbo Fisher and Kirby Smart have laid the blueprint in recent years, and Sarkisian has loaded up on talent ahead of Texas’ jump to the SEC next season.
Alabama is 67-2 at home since 2013, so with or without an experienced quarterback under center for Saban, knocking off the Crimson Tide in their own house is always a Herculean task.
