Alabama and Texas A&M will both face their first real competition of the season when the two teams face off in Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday.
Both No. 2 Alabama and No. 13 Texas A&M enter this game at 1-0 after wins against SEC East competition in Missouri and Vanderbilt, respectively. Yet both the Crimson Tide and Aggies likely were left wanting in their season-opening games, despite their victories.
Alabama looked routinely dominant in the first half of its game against season-opening game against the Tigers, jumping out to a 28-3 halftie lead behind the arm of Mac Jones (18 of 24 passing, 249 yards, three touchdowns, two of which went to Jaylen Waddle) and a stout defensive performance. But the Tide were limited to only 10 points in the second half while giving up 13 fourth-quarter points — including one on the final play of the game. The still won handily, but that's life under Nick Saban in Tuscaloosa.

Jimbo Fisher and Texas A&M got a much tougher game out of Vanderbilt in a 17-12 win; the Aggies gained 372 yards of total offense against the Commodores, but also lost three of five fumbles on the day. Kellen Mond completed 17 of 28 passes and had one touchdown to no interceptions, but threw for fewer than 200 yards in the win (189). The Aggies did see promising runs by Isaiah Spiller (eight rushes, 117 yards) and Ainias Smith (10 rushes, 51 yards) but Fisher will want to cut down on the fumbles.
