Alabama is reportedly blocking redshirt-sophomore offensive lineman Brandon Kennedy — a graduate transfer — from attending any SEC programs or future Tide nonconference opponents, according to AL.com.

Kennedy, a Wetumpka, Ala., native who graduated in December and is nearly finished earning his master's degree, finished the spring as Alabama's backup center. He is interested in visiting Auburn and Tennessee, but according to AL.com's report, is blocked from even contacting those schools.

He is reportedly in the process of appealing.

This isn't the first time the Tide have tried blocking a graduate transfer; Alabama in 2016 initially blocked defensive back Maurice Smith from attending Georgia before the program and SEC granted him a full release.

He ended up becoming a productive player for the Bulldogs and even scored a pick-six in their 2016 game against Auburn, which ended in a 13-7 win for Georgia.

We'll see if Kennedy's situation will have a similar outcome to Smith's.
