Arkansas desperately wants to party like it's 2006. Why? That's the last time the Hogs beat the Tide. And they really need a win here.
Alabama is the last of Arkansas' four-game road trip. And it's been a tough few weeks for the Razorbacks, who have lost all of those games so far, two by a single possession. And soon, Sam Pittman may be on the hot seat. Following a monumental season in 2021, things seem to have gone down hill. Bowl eligibility is becoming less and less likely, and if the Razorbacks (2-4) lose to Alabama, that will be an even harder mountain to climb. If it's another one-score game, it'll raise more questions about Pittman's ability to develop the program. It would help if KJ Jefferson can avoid his seventh interception in five games.
It's been a disappointing season, to say the least, but Alabama also has had its difficulties.
An early loss to Texas, and the Tide (5-1) are not the same team they used to be. Any game from here on out could cost them a playoff appearance, if they're even still in it. But since the struggles against South Florida, things have slowly gotten better. Alabama's quarterback questions seem to have vanished, with Jalen Milroe officially in the driver's seat. He had his best game of the season against Texas A&M, and while there are still question marks about this season still, things seem to finally be falling into place. The Tide are the only 3-0 team in the SEC West, on track to play (Georgia, probably) in the conference title game.
