Five-star Class of 2020 quarterback Bryce Young announced his commitment to Alabama on Sunday, adding himself to the list of potential replacements for Tua Tagovailoa, who is expected to declare for the NFL Draft after this season.
Young is the No. 2-ranked dual-threat quarterback and No. 32-ranked player in the 2020 class in 247Sports' rankings and is currently leading No. 1-ranked Mater Dei in Santa Ana, Calif. He committed to USC in July 2018 but visited Alabama this weekend, according to 247, and elected to flip to the Crimson Tide.

Redshirt sophomore Mac Jones has backed up Tagovailoa this year, and Tagovailoa's brother, four-star true freshman Taulia Tagovailoa, is the third-string quarterback.
Given the frequency of quarterback transfers, it's tough to know what the depth chart will look like when Young arrives on campus, but as the most-heralded recruit of the bunch, his addition has the potential to create a fascinating quarterback battle in the spring and fall.
Young's flip means USC loses the prize of its 2020 class. Mater Dei has been a pipeline for USC quarterbacks historically, sending players such as Matt Leinart, Matt Barkley and JT Daniels to the Trojans. Young's departure leaves the Trojans with the Pac-12's eighth-ranked 2020 class, per 247.
