Ohio State is feeling confident after breaking UConn's near 20-year streak of consecutive Elite Eight appearances. The Buckeyes defeated the Huskies 73-61 in the Sweet 16, utilizing their press to keep UConn down for a majority of the game.
This is the first Elite Eight appearance for the Buckeyes since 1993, and for the first time, the Big Ten has three women's teams in the Elite Eight.

The Buckeyes' opponent Monday night, Virginia Tech, is a first-time No. 1 seed and in its first Elite Eight after defeating Tennessee 73-64 in the Sweet 16.

Hokies star Elizabeth Kitley scored 12 points against the Vols and also notched her 2,000th career point. She's the fifth Virginia Tech player, men's or women's, to reach that plateau. She also joins an elite list of NCAA all-time scorers, including Iowa superstar guard Caitlin Clark.
The Buckeyes and Hokies have only met once previously, and it, too, was at a neutral site. Virginia Tech won 81-73 in the 2018 West Palm Beach Invitational.
