Caitlin Clark is on the verge of making college hoops history.
The Iowa guard has been a headliner ever since she joined the Hawkeyes in 2020. Flash forward to now, and not only is she the brightest star in women's college basketball, but she is also making the case to be one of the greatest women ever to play NCAA hoops.
Another step to cementing her status as the potential women's college basketball GOAT can be taken on Thursday night when the Hawkeyes welcome the visiting Wolverines of Michigan to Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Clark is less than 10 points away from surpassing Kelsey Plum as the NCAA women's basketball all-time points leader.
Here's a look at where Clark stands among the NCAA's all-time scoring leaders and what the rest of the season looks like for her.

How many points does Caitlin Clark need?
Clark is now just seven points away from tying Kelsey Plum for the record and eight points away from setting a new mark for most points scored in a career by a single women's player.
Plum, who currently is a standout on the WNBA's Las Vegas Aces, totaled 3,527 points over her career with Washington. Clark currently has 3,520 career points, needing eight more to surpass Plum for the honor.
Considering Clark has averaged over 30 points per game this season (32.1), it is quite likely that she will overtake Plum for No. 1 on the list during the contest against Michigan.
Many, including Plum herself, thought that Clark would break the record last week against Nebraska. However, the Iowa senior was held scoreless in the fourth quarter, leading to a loss to the Cornhuskers.

Clark has denied letting the outside noise get to her while she chases the all-time record. While it has been a hot topic this season, the likely top pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft is keeping a steady mindset on the looming achievement.
"I don't feel that much pressure," Clark said to ESPN after Iowa's 111-93 victory over Penn State. "I feel like, at this point, it's like 'when' it's going to happen, rather than me chasing it down.
"My main focus is just on winning, having fun, enjoying these environments because it's so special. I've been able to find a lot of calmness and peace in that, and it wasn't always that way in my career. Early on, I would get nervous for these types of games. I feel like my maturity has just grown a lot."
