Nurse, serving as assistant to Dwane Casey, helped push the Raptors to attempt nearly nine more 3-point shots per game in 2017-18, which varied Toronto's offence and helped boost the team to a franchise-high 59 wins.

With Nurse having taken over from Casey following the Raptors' latest playoff exit, what kind of system will the promoted coach employ becomes forefront. In stints as head coach of the D-League's Iowa Energy and Rio Grande Valley Vipers, Nurse implemented offensive schemes that relied heavily on long-distance shooting and layups, creating a run-and-gun style that was similar to what the Raptors used to claim the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference last season.
