The United States never left any doubt in its quarterfinals win over Brazil.
It's win or go home at the 2024 Paris Olympics from here on out, and Team USA played with that level of urgency in the first round of the Knockout Stage on Tuesday. It continued its undefeated summer with a decisive 35-point win over Brazil, 122-87.
The United States had too much offense for Brazil to handle. Six different players scored in double figures, led by Devin Booker's 18 points and Anthony Edwards' late flurry to reach 17 points. LeBron James was surgical in only three quarters, going for 12 points and nine assists before leaving the game with an eye injury.
James returned to the bench and his eye appeared to be fine, but Team USA did not need his services with a comfortable lead. It cruised to the finish line and will now have a semifinals meeting with Nikola Jokic and Serbia with a trip to the gold medal game on the line.

The United States shot 58 percent from the field and 48 percent from 3 as Brazil's defense had little resistance throughout the game. Bruno Caboclo finished with 30 points and six rebounds and Georginho De Paula added 15 points and eight rebounds but Brazil didn't have nearly enough firepower to pull off the upset.

4:40 p.m.: Brazil continues to battle. Yago Santos and Leo Meindl both hit 3-pointers and Georginho De Paula finished a layup but it only put a small dent in Team USA's lead. Devin Booker continues to knock down shots, up to 15 points after a 3-pointer of his own. The United States lead Brazil 74-51 with 5:41 to play in the quarter.
Halftime: USA 63, Brazil 36
4:20 p.m.: Team USA ends the half with a bang, courtesy of a beautiful lob from LeBron James to Jayson Tatum off an inbounds pass. Joel Embiid's 14 points led the United States but James was the best player on the floor. He's doing everything with 10 points, eight assists, three steals and two rebounds.
Bruno Caboclo and Marcelo Huertas are trying to keep Brazil in it with nine points apiece but its defense has no answer for Team USA, who is shooting 59 percent from the field and 50 percent from 3.

4:16 p.m.: Team USA is amidst an 11-0 run and Brazil looks completely outmatched. This lineup of LeBron James, Jrue Holiday, Jayson Tatum, Kevin Durant and Joel Embiid is causing problems with its size and versatility. The United States lead Brazil 61-36 with under a minute to play in the half.
4:12 p.m.: LeBron James is shredding Brazil's defense with his passing. He's up to seven assists already and only has one turnover. He just threaded the needle to Jrue Holiday for an easy layup.
4:10 p.m.: Joel Embiid is having his best game in a Team USA uniform so far. The big man is up to 11 points and has found a groove from 3-point range, knocking down his first 3 attempts. Team USA leads Brazil 50-36 with three minutes remaining in the half.
4:03 p.m.: Brazil is showing some signs of life with a 10-0 run to cut USA's lead to nine, 40-31. Lucas Dias had a dunk and Georginho De Paula buried a triple to force a United States timeout. Marcelo Huertas came out of the break with another triple and a pull-up midrange to extend the run.
End of first quarter: USA 33, Brazil 21
3:53 p.m.: Team USA is starting to lock in, taking a 12-point lead into the second quarter. Its unselfishness is shining through, dishing out 12 assists on 13 made field goals. Devin Booker set the tone with nine points and three assists.

3:47 p.m.: Team USA has gone to its second unit: Derrick White, Anthony Edwards, Kevin Durant, Anthony Davis and Bam Adebayo. Jayson Tatum is the odd man out once again in the first two rotations.
3:42 p.m.: Devin Booker with a four-point play! He's off to a tremendous start for Team USA with a team-high nine points, three rebounds and three assists. Joel Embiid has also chipped in eight points, and LeBron James is orchestrating the offense with five assists. Team USA leads Brazil 27-14 with three minutes to play in the quarter.
3:37 p.m.: Stephen Curry with a pair of quick and easy layups. That could be a great sign for Team USA and a dangerous one for Brazil. The superstar guard hasn't had his breakout game of the Olympics yet but nothing gets a good scorer going like seeing the ball go through the hoop early.
3:32 p.m.: Gui Santos picked off a pass from Joel Embiid and went coast-to-coast to get this game underway.
Pregame
3:30 p.m.: Brazil will start Raul Neto, Marcelo Huertas, Leo Meindl, Gui Santos and Bruno Caboclo.
3:20 p.m.: Head coach Steve Kerr will revert to his most used starting five: Stephen Curry, Jrue Holiday, Devin Booker, LeBron James and Joel Embiid.
