The Golden State Warriors are mired in easily their worst stretch of the season. Since a season-high nine-game win streak ended on Feb. 7, the Warriors have since lost nine of 11 and ride a five-game losing streak heading into tonight's game against the LA Clippers.

The cold spell has dropped the Warriors in the Western Conference standings and they are in danger of falling even further. Prior to this 10-game stretch, the Warriors were second in the West, just 2.5 game behind the Phoenix Suns. They have since fallen 8.5 games behind the Suns and are currently in third behind the Memphis Grizzlies.

Additionally, the Warriors are now just 2.5 games ahead of the Utah Jazz for fourth place and three up on the Dallas Mavericks for fifth. If Golden State doesn't get its act together, it could be in danger of losing home-court advantage in the first round, something that seemed inconceivable back a month ago.

Is Stephen Curry playing tonight vs. Clippers?

Head coach Steve Kerr opted to rest Curry – along with Klay Thompson and Andrew Wiggins – in Monday's game against the Nuggets that was a make-up from the postponed Dec. 30 meeting.

Following Golden State's loss to the Lakers on Saturday, Kerr explained that it was an easy decision. "The decision was pretty easy. Throwing that game into the schedule the way the league did after that game was postponed and then going back to Denver. Three games in four nights, with two of those games being in Denver back and forth, were not putting our high minutes guys at risk."

The night off allowed Curry to get some rest and he is expected to be available for Tuesday's game against the Clippers.

Curry has been durable for the Warriors this season, playing 59 of their 64 games so far. He last missed a game back on Feb. 1 at San Antonio, a game the Warriors won 124-120 thanks to Jordan Poole's 31 points.

The Warriors will hope that the much-needed rest can snap Curry out of his prolonged slump. Despite dropping 50 points in the All-Star game which included a record 16 made 3-pointers, Curry has largely been unable to find his form. For the season, he's shooting 37.9 percent from beyond the arc, far below his career average of 42.8.

In 27 games in 2022, Curry is averaging 23.6 points while making 3.6 3-pointers per game on a 35.0 percent clip. In this stretch, he's scored 20 or fewer in 12 games.

Compare that to the first 32 games, when he averaged 27.7 points on 5.4 3-pointers made with a 39.7 percent efficiency. In this stretch, he's scored 20 or fewer in just five games.

This recent dip has seen him slip from an MVP favorite early on to outside of the top five on the latest NBA.com MVP ladder.
