The Thunder will be without their leading scorer for their In-Season Tournament opener.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been ruled out for Oklahoma City's meeting with Golden State on Friday due to a knee injury he suffered in the team's recent loss to New Orleans.

Gilgeous-Alexander is coming off of a breakout season with the Thunder. In 68 games, he averaged 31.4 points, 5.5 assists and 4.8 rebounds per game, earning him the first All-Star and All-NBA selections of his career. His leap into stardom is a big reason why many believe the Thunder could make some noise in the Western Conference this season.

What is Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's injury?

The Thunder have listed Gilgeous-Alexander on the injury report with a left knee sprain.

Gilgeous-Alexander suffered the injury during the Thunder's loss to the Pelicans on Nov. 1. Head coach Mark Daigneault said after the game that he thought Gilgeous-Alexander had hyperextended his knee "a little bit." Gilgeous-Alexander woke up the following day with soreness.

Gilgeous-Alexander logged 38 minutes against the Pelicans, finishing with 20 points and eight assists on 8-for-20 shooting from the field.

How long will Shai Gilgeous-Alexander be out?

Gilgeous-Alexander won't play against the Warriors in the Thunder's first In-Season Tournament game. It's currently unclear how long his knee injury will sideline him.

Friday's matchup with the Warriors will mark the fourth of six straight home games for the Thunder. They will play the Hawks and Cavaliers before embarking on a two-game Western Conference road trip.
