The Boston Celtics welcomed royalty to the TD Garden Wednesday night for their game against the Miami Heat.

No trip to Boston would be complete without catching a Celtics game and Prince William and Catherine, the Prince and Princess of Wales, checked in to catch some hoops as part of their royal visit to the Boston area this week.

Prince William and Catherine have made their first trip to the US since 2014, beginning their visit with a meeting with Boston Mayor Michelle Wu ahead of the second Earthshot Prize ceremony at MGM Music Hall on Friday.

“To the people of Boston, thank you,” Prince William said in a statement. “I’m so grateful to you for allowing us to host the second year of The Earthshot Prize in your great city. Catherine and I can’t wait to meet many of you in the days ahead.”

The Earthshot prize is an initiative that encourages people to bring forth ideas to tackle climate change and various environmental issues.

Prizes are awarded in five categories, with each receiving one million pounds for protecting and restoring nature, cleaning the air, reviving oceans, building a waste-free world, and fixing the climate, according to the foundation.

The Royal trip will also include a visit to Greentown Labs in Somerville and a trip to Roca, a Chelsea-based non-profit organization. They will also make stops at the Center on the Developing Child at Harvard University and the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum.

Until then, they'll be watching on as the Celtics look to extend their win streak to five games with the help of a little royal luck.
