Raptors-Kings trade details: Toronto lands Davion Mitchell from Sacramento in exchange for Jalen McDaniels image

The Raptors remain active as they make moves to improve their roster during the offseason.

Toronto is set to acquire Davion Mitchell and Sasha Vezenkov from Sacramento in exchange for Jalen McDaniels, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Mitchell is a former lottery pick set to enter his fourth NBA season while Vezenkov is a former EuroLeague MVP.

Here is everything you need to know about the deal.

Raptors-Kings trade details

Raptors receive

  • Davion Mitchell
  • Sasha Vezenkov
  • 45th pick in 2024 NBA Draft

Kings receive

  • Jalen McDaniels

The Raptors are parting ways with McDaniels in exchange for Mitchell and Vezenkov, per Wojnarowski.

Mitchell is a 6-0 guard known best for his abilities on the defensive end. During his time at Baylor, he helped lead the Bears to a national championship, earning the nickname "Off Night" because his defensive assignment would often have uncharacteristically poor outings.

Ahead of the offseason, Raptors president Masai Ujiri discussed the team's desire to add a backup point guard and defense on the wing. One night after drafting a combo guard in Ja'Kobe Walter, the Raptors add a guard with a strong defensive reputation.

By doing a two-for-one trade, the Kings get under the luxury tax and open up a roster spot as they look to get back to the NBA Playoffs after losing in this year's Play-In Tournament.

Toronto signed McDaniels as a free agent in the 2023 offseason but his time with the Raptors was not completely fruitful. He averaged under 11 minutes over 50 appearances and failed to carve a role with the team.
