Jontay Porter received a lifetime ban from the NBA for sharing information with bettors, influencing prop bets on himself and betting on NBA games.
Porter, a backup center for the Raptors, told a bettor information about his health ahead of Toronto's March 20 game, the NBA investigation found in its investigation into Porter. Another bettor privy to that information placed a large parlay based on Porter's statistics that would have won $1.1 million.
But DraftKings did not pay out the bet due to the suspicious activity surrounding Porter's player props. Porter played three minutes in that game before leaving with an illness.
Porter is the younger brother of Nuggets starting forward Michael Porter Jr.

Porter has played two seasons in the NBA: the 2020-21 season with the Grizzlies and the 2023-24 season with Toronto. The time in between largely was spent in the G League, where he played 15 games for the Wisconsin Herd in 2022-23 and 15 games between the Motor City Cruise and Raptors 905 in the 2023-24 campaign.
The 24-year-old logged 37 total games in his NBA career, averaging 3.7 points per game. He notched a career-high in scoring on March 11, when he scored 14 points on the road against Denver.

Jontay Porter contract
Porter signed a two-way contract with the Raptors on Dec. 9, 2023, meaning he could make at most half of the league minimum salary while playing for the NBA team and its G League affiliate. Porter could earn up to a maximum of $559,782 for the season.
He had signed a contract with the Pistons on Oct. 2, 2023, worth just over $2 million, per Spotrac, but he was waived 19 days into the deal.
