The Raptors open their preseason schedule against a Jazz team that has undergone a lot of change.
Following a first-round loss to the Mavericks in the 2022 NBA Playoffs, the Jazz decided to part ways with both their All-Stars in the offseason, trading Rudy Gobert to the Timberwolves and Donovan Mitchell to the Cavaliers in blockbuster deals.
Still remaining on the roster are Mike Conley, Jordan Clarkson and Toronto native Nickeil Alexander-Walker. Some of the new faces surrounding them include Collin Sexton, Lauri Markkanen and another Canadian Kelly Olynyk.
Toronto's matchup with Utah will be played in Edmonton as part of this year's NBA Canada Series. It's the first time the series will be held since 2019.
"I think that tour has been good for us in years past," Raptors president Masai Ujiri said of the NBA Canada Series. "It's now the feeling of our team. We feel like we are Canada's team, we feel like we're a global team.
"To touch all these cities, whether it's training camp in Victoria or playing in Edmonton or Montreal — one, to feel like the people of Canada because we know of the support. Then, it's been a couple of years since we've been able to do stuff like this because of, obviously, COVID and the restrictions, but now we get back to normal with the tradition we've had for many years here.
"We're excited about it, and I think it's important for our team and our fans to see us in different places."
