After Fred VanVleet's departure, the Raptors had a hole to fill at point guard. They quickly took a step towards addressing it by adding veteran Dennis Schroder.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Schroder signed a two-year, $26 million USD (34.4 million CAD) contract with Toronto on Friday evening. It will be the fourth team in four seasons for the 29-year-old German, who made it to the Western Conference Finals with the Lakers this past season.

Dennis Schroder contract details

According to Wojnarowski, Schroder reached an agreement with the Raptors on a two-year, $26 million USD (34.4 million CAD) contract.

Schroder began his NBA career with the Hawks in 2013 after several years with German club Phantoms Braunschweig. He spent five seasons in Atlanta, posting a career-high 19.4 points per game in 2017-18 before moving to Oklahoma City that offseason. Since then, he has struggled to find a home, bouncing around between three teams (the Rockets, Celtics and Lakers) over the last five seasons.

The deal with Toronto represents a big pay raise on his last contract. He earned just $2.6 million USD ($3.4 million CAD) last year with the Lakers.

Dennis Schroder career earnings

According to Spotrac, Schroder has made an estimated $77 million USD ($102 million CAD) so far in his NBA career. That does not include his new contract with the Raptors, which will increase his career earnings to over $100 million USD ($132 million CAD).

Dennis Schroder stats

Through 10 seasons of his career, Schroder is averaging 14.0 points, 4.7 assists and 2.9 rebounds per game. He has started in 317 of his 687 regular season games.
