With the group play stage at the Olympic men's basketball tournament coming to a close, the focus shifts to the knockout stage, where the tournament's eight best teams have advanced to participate in the quarterfinals.

As evidenced by its name, the knockout stage is a high-stakes competition because teams are eliminated with one loss. Teams with gold-medal aspirations must turn in a perfect 3-0 record to stand atop the podium at the tournament's conclusion.
