New Clippers forward Norman Powell overcame a slow start to finish with 28 points, including 19 in the second half, but it wasn't enough to stop the Bucks from winning in Los Angeles, 137-113.

The Clippers acquired Powell and Robert Covington from the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for Eric Bledsoe, Justise Winslow, Keon Johnson and a 2025 second-round pick (via Detroit) last week.

Prior to the trade, Powell was averaging 18.7 points on 45.6 percent from the floor, 3.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists - numbers not too dissimilar from his last season as a Raptor.
The 28-year-old played 24 efficient minutes against the Bucks, and although he started a little slow, he showed exactly why the Clippers coveted his smooth shooting stroke and gave the Clippers that scoring punch of the bench they sorely needed.
He ended the game with 28 points (4-of-8 from behind-the-arc) and four assists.
His first two assists were to Covington as they displayed their on-court synergy with this sequence.

Powell's 28 points on Sunday were four points off his season-high 32, which came against the Utah Jazz a few days before the New Year
Postgame, Powell, who is a native of San Diego, CA, said the only bad thing about his trade was that he had just gotten furniture moved into a house he had bought in Oregon, but added that he could sense interest in him from Ty Lue going back to the NBA bubble.
Norman Powell said he felt Ty Lue's interest in his game going all the way back to the bubble. When the Raptors and Clippers overlapped Lue would apparently stop Powell and ask him questions about his game.

Powell added that he thought he "fit perfectly in here with PG and Kawhi" because throughout his career he's played every role.
With the loss, the Clippers have dropped to 27-28 for the season but remain half a game ahead of the Los Angeles Lakers in the eighth seed in the West.
