Much like DeMarcus Cousins, who reportedly agreed to a mid-level exception with the Warriors, Howard will be on a one-year deal worth $5.3 million for 2018-19.
With LeBron James now in the Western Conference, the Wizards have taken aim at reloading their roster in a wide-open Eastern Conference. They traded for Austin Rivers to add some depth to their backcourt and replaced the outgoing Marcin Gortat and Mike Scott with reported deals for Howard and Jeff Green.
Green who finished last season with the Cavaliers reportedly reached a one-year agreement with the Wizards according to NBA.com's David Aldridge.
Howard showed flashes of returning to his all-star form last year with the Charlotte Hornets averaging 16.6 points and 12.5 rebounds.
All signings will not be official until the end of the NBA moratorium period on July 6.
