Powell is coming off his best season in the league averaging 10.6 points, 5.3 rebounds — both career-highs in 77 games.
The 27-year-old (28 in July) will be counted on to be a key piece of the Mavs frontcourt with Kristaps Porzingis and Rookie of the Year Luka Doncic.
Powell was traded to the Mavericks from the Boston Celtics alongside Rajon Rondo in 2014 in exchange for Jae Crowder, Jameer Nelson, Brandan Wright, a 2016 1st round pick (Guerschon Yabusele) and a 2016 second round pick (Demetrius Jackson).
Now that Powell's contract situation is sorted, all eyes will turn to his availability for Team Canada at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019.
He's said multiple times that he plans to make himself available for the National Team should they come calling.
The Basketball World Cup is set to run from August 31-September 15th in China.
