The NBA has selected two replacements to join the Eastern Conference All-Stars in 2024.
On Feb. 6, NBA commissioner Adam Silver named Hawks guard Trae Young and Raptors forward Scottie Barnes as injury replacements for the 2024 NBA All-Star Game in Indianapolis.
Young and Barnes have been tabbed to replace 76ers center Joel Embiid and Knicks forward Julius Randle. Eastern Conference head coach Doc Rivers will select a reserve to replace Embiid in the starting lineup.
This is the third All-Star selection for Young, who is averaging 27.3 points and a career-high 10.9 assists per game for Atlanta this year. Young returns to the All-Star stage after missing out on a selection in 2023.
Barnes, 22, is set to make his All-Star debut in 2024. The 2022 Rookie of the Year has made a significant leap in his third season, posting averages of 20.2 points, 8.1 rebounds and 5.8 assists for a Raptors team that has had its fair share of struggles this season.

Why will Joel Embiid miss the All-Star Game?
Embiid suffered a torn lateral meniscus in his left knee on Jan. 30. One week later, Embiid underwent a procedure on his left knee, per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
With Embiid set to be re-evaluated in four weeks from Feb. 6, he will not be able to suit up in the All-Star Game, which takes place on Sunday, Feb. 18.
Why will Julius Randle miss the All-Star Game?
Randle dislocated his right shoulder on Jan. 27. On Feb. 1, the Knicks announced that Randle will be re-evaluated in 2-to-3 weeks, meaning he would be unable to get cleared in time to participate in the All-Star Game on Feb. 18.
