Here's a look at how his triple-doubles have been spread across the three NBA teams he has represented over the course of his long career:
Breakdown of LeBron James' triple-doubles by season
To no surprise, James recorded the most number of triple-doubles for a season during the 2017-18 campaign. It was a season in the NBA after the triple-doubles had become the trend for all-round players and it remains the only season that James played all 82 games of the regular season.
Season | Team | Games | Triple-Doubles |

2004-05 | Cleveland Cavaliers | 80 | 4 |
2005-06 | Cleveland Cavaliers | 79 | 5 |
2006-07 | Cleveland Cavaliers | 78 | 1 |

As can be seen from the table, James has recorded a majority of his triple-doubles in the latter half of his career. In fact, he's registered 58 of the 100 in the last six seasons since 2016-17.
Breakdown of LeBron James triple-doubles by franchise
Not surprisingly, a majority of James' triple-doubles while he has represented his home state franchise in the Cleveland Cavaliers, a team that he has suited up for in 11 NBA seasons.
His 64 career triple-doubles for the Cavs are the most in franchise history and nearly 40 more than the rest of the players combined .
Team | Seasons | Games | Triple-doubles |
Cleveland Cavaliers | 2003-10, 2014-18 | 849 | 64 |
Miami Heat | 2010-14 | 294 | 9 |
Los Angeles Lakers | 2018 - | 181 | 27 |
Although, he only recorded nine with the Heat, he is the franchise leader for most career triple-doubles . However, unlike the Cavaliers' all-time charts, he is under threat from Jimmy Butler, who has eight to his name while donning the Heat jersey.
For the Lakers, it's highly unlikely that James will reach the top step of the all-time charts given leader Magic Johnson's triple-double tally of 138. Having said that, his triple-double against the Grizzlies is his 27th while representing the Lakers which is the second-most in franchise history .
