After a rough start to the season, the Nets are beginning to trend in the right direction. As they continue to work on an early-season turnaround, they'll soon welcome star guard Kyrie Irving back into the lineup.

On Thursday, Nov. 3, the Nets announced that Irving had been suspended for a minimum of five games after repeatedly failing to apologize for a social media post that included a link to a film featuring antisemitic messaging. At the time, the franchise said that Irving was "currently unfit to be associated" with the team.

In the coming days, it was reported that Irving would have to complete a number of steps in order to again be deemed fit to be a Net. With over two weeks' time passing, Irving has reportedly taken the necessary steps and is on the cusp of returning to the floor.

Here is the latest on Irving's status for the Nets' upcoming game and beyond.

Is Kyrie Irving playing vs. Grizzlies tonight?

The Nets on Sunday announced that Irving has officially been reinstated after serving his suspension. After initially being listed as questionable, Irving will be active to play against the Grizzlies on Sunday.

Here's more from the franchise on its decision to reinstate Irving:

Kyrie took ownership of his journey and had conversations with several members of the Jewish community. We are pleased that he is going about the process in a meaningful way.

Irving's reinstatement comes one day after he issued an apology to the Jewish community. He officially missed eight games due to the suspension, a span in which the Nets posted a 5-3 record.

Despite their record in his absence, Irving has left a major void. He's averaging 26.9 points, 5.1 rebounds and 5.1 assists through eight games this season.
