The Celtics were already missing Al Horford, Marcus Smart and Robert Williams III for Wednesday night's matchup against the 76ers. Then, Jaylen Brown joined the injury list.

Brown, who missed four games in January after suffering an adductor strain, also sat out Monday night's game against the Pistons because of a non-COVID illness.

Now, the All-Star is out with a facial fracture. Here's everything we know about Brown's setback and the latest news on when he may return to the court.

What is Jaylen Brown's injury?

With less than two minutes remaining in the second quarter of Wednesday's game, Brown missed a 3-pointer from the right corner. As he hustled to get the rebound, he was met by an inadvertent elbow to the face from teammate Jayson Tatum.

Brown immediately went down and held his face before heading straight to the locker room. The team later announced that he would not return, initially referring to the injury as a facial contusion.

The Athletic's Shams Charania later reported that Brown had suffered a facial fracture.

Brown exited the game with four points, three assists and two rebounds in 18 minutes.
