"It's a parade inside my city, yeah!"

The above line, which is the first bar from rapper YoungBoy Never Broke Again's single "Fresh Prince of Utah," has become the victory cry for Ja Morant and the Grizzlies during the 2022-23 NBA season. Thanks to Memphis' winning ways and Morant's popularity, the line is now the source of a new trend on TikTok.

You don't have to be an advanced TikToker to know that the Grizzlies like to have fun. Between the team's well-documented affinity for YoungBoy's music and Morant's tradition of hitting The Griddy after wins, you have the formula for a trend.

And just like that, a trend has been born.

How Ja Morant, Grizzlies inspired 'parade inside my city' TikTok trend

The original post from Feb. 12 splices Morant's postgame "it's a parade inside my city" proclamation with the first few lines of "Fresh Prince of Utah," mixing in highlights and a two-man Griddy featuring Morant and Dillon Brooks.

In the time since the original post, the sound has been used nearly 90,000 times, with users describing various situations that would cause them to feel as though there was a parade inside their own personal city, be it literal or figurative.

And, of course, it's not really a parade inside one's city without a Griddy. Regardless of whether it's a good Griddy or not.

Since the soundbite can be traced back to Morant, it's only right that some of the best videos with the sound involve him in some way, like the video of him and a group of Griddying kids in Salt Lake City during All-Star Weekend.

As wholesome as the above group video is, the biggest star of the trend has to be Morant's three-year-old daughter, Kaari, who hit her Griddy after stepping off of a strider bike.

Similar to most TikTok trends, there isn't exactly a rhyme or reason as to why this sound has taken off in recent days. That said, the fun nature of Morant's proclamation and the inclusion of dancing makes plenty of sense as the formula for the popularity of the sound.
