What is the highest-scoring game in NBA history? Kings-Clippers threatens record with double-overtime thriller image

History was almost made at Crypto.com Arena on Friday night.

The Clippers hosted the Kings in a game that was expected to be all about Russell Westbrook's debut with his new team. Westbrook showed out with a double-double of 17 points and 14 assists but his performance was overshadowed by the ridiculous number of points scored by the two teams.

You would have thought an All-Star Game had broken out between LA and Sacramento, as the Kings defeated the Clippers 176-175 in double overtime.

De'Aaron Fox and Malik Monk combined for 87 points. Kawhi Leonard and Paul George combined for 78 points. All 19 players who stepped on the floor scored.

The Clippers hit a franchise-record 26 3-pointers, converting at a 57.8 percent clip. Add in the Kings' 18 3s and their 44 combined triples tied for the most in a game in NBA history.

It was also just the second time in NBA history that two teams reached at least 170 points in the same game.

But was it the highest-scoring game in NBA history? The Sporting News has you covered with the answer.

What is the highest-scoring game in NBA history?

The Kings and Clippers combined for 351 points, which is the second-highest-scoring game in NBA history.

A 1983 game between the Pistons and Nuggets still holds the record. The teams combined for 370 points as Detroit defeated Denver in triple overtime.

Isiah Thomas went for 47 points while John Long chipped in 41 and Kelly Tripucka added 35 for the Pistons. Kiki VanDeWeghe poured in 51 points for the Nuggets while Alex English added 47.

The craziest part: there were only four total 3-point attempts the entire game, compared to 96 3-point attempts between the Kings and Clippers on Friday night.
