The Hawks get it done.

The Atlanta Hawks built an early lead and never looked back against the Miami Heat in the teams' 7th vs. 8th Play-In tournament game.

Atlanta were dominant in the paint, outscoring Miami 64-46, resulting in a 24-point lead at one stage in the second quarter that the Hawks rode to the win.

Kyle Łowry scored a game-high 33 points to keep things interesting, but he was a lone flicker in a Heat team that failed to fire.

We'll have you covered with live updates, highlights and more from all the action.

Heat vs. Hawks live score, updates, highlights

Final Hawks 116, Heat 105:

10:08 p.m.: The Hawks simply wanted it more. Atlanta shake off their so-so regular season to claim the 7th seed and advance to the Playoffs to take on the No.2 seed Boston Celtics.

The Hawks out-rebounded the Heat 63-39 and as result dominated second-chance points 26-6.

Trae Young was a constant and steadying force for the Hawks with 25 points, eight rebounds and seven assists, but the winning factor for Atlanta was the interior output from Clint Cappella (4 PTS, 21 REB) and Onyeka Okongwu (12 PTS, 4 BLK).

Aside from Kyle Lowry (33 PTS) and Tyler Herro (26 points) the Heat were lacklustre and lethargic.

Miami have had Atlanta's number in the past, winning 10 of the last 11 matches between the pair, but today was a different story. They now face the winner of No.9 Raptors and No.10 Bulls in a do-or-die matchup for the 8th seed.

9:51 p.m.: It's the same highlight over and over. Hustle is winning it for the Hawks. They lead the offensive rebound count 20-6 as Saddiq Bey scores inside and Atlanta lead 110-99.

9:47 p.m.: Kyle Lowry will not let the Heat wilt away. He continues his long-range assault.

9:34 p.m.: A big hit from downtown by Kyle Lowry brings this game back to within six.

9:26 p.m.: Jalen Johnson springs out of the quarter-time break eager to forge his side ahead.

End of third quarter: Hawks 91, Heat 78

9:26 p.m.: Atlanta rebound from a bad start to the second half to finish the quarter with a flourish. Onyeka Okongwu has come off the bench to provide 12 points, and more importantly, three blocks that have shifted momentum back the way of the Hawks.

9:19 p.m.: The Hawks steady themselves behind a commitment to defence. Onyeka Okongwu registered his third block and it goes way into the stands.

9:08 p.m.: HUGE rally by the Heat out of the halftime huddle. In the first four minutes of the quarter they hold the Hawks to 2-of-10 from the field, outscoring them 13-4, to trim this game to a 6-point contest.

Halftime: Hawks 65, Heat 50

8:50 p.m.: The Heat end the second quarter on a 11-2 run trimming the halftime margin to 15 points. Kyle Lowry has been the difference maker for Miami. He has a game-high 19 points on 75 percent from the field. Trae Young has continued to pace the Hawks, his usage rate is through the roof, resulting in 13 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Young's teammates have been ready to catch and shoot, Atlanta have four players in double-figures to go along with 35 points from their bench.

8:34 p.m.: Bam Adebayo has been quiet thus far in the contest. Heat coach Erik Spoelstra will be hoping this defensive effort fires up his team.

8:30 p.m.: The Heat have missed their last six shots, while the Hawks are on fire. Miami can't buy a bucket shooting 35.9 percent from the field. Trae Young has continually snaked his way to the hoop for finesse finishes and the Hawks lead by 20 points on the road.

8:09 p.m.: Trae Young throws a must-see behind-the-back pass to Saddiq Bey who knocks down the three. The Hawks are playing with complete freedom.

End of first quarter: Hawks 36, Heat 27

8:09 p.m.: The Hawks look very free on offense, scoring at will on 56.0 percent from the field. Trae Young has laid the foundation for a big night with five points, five assists and four rebounds. Jimmy Butler is keeping the Heat within touch. His game-high 10 points have been hard-earned, as the Heat star has forced his way to the foul line, shooting 4-for-4. Kyle Lowry provided a punch off the bench, dropping seven points.
