How long is Gary Trent Jr. out? Injury timeline, return date, latest updates on Raptors guard image

Just one month into the NBA season, injury woes have troubled the Raptors at a concerning rate.

Four of the Raptors' five starters have missed at least one game this year, with Gary Trent Jr. last appearing in a game on Nov. 14 before a hip injury forced him to miss time. Trent has largely struggled to begin the year, which could be a product of him not being at 100 percent physically.

What is Trent's status for the Raptors moving forward? Here is what we know about his injury and what it means for Toronto.

What is Gary Trent Jr.'s injury?

After missing the team's last two games with a sore right hip, Trent has been ruled out for the Raptors' meeting with the Hawks on Nov. 19 because of a non-COVID illness.

Trent and Chris Boucher are both out because of an illness, an issue that head coach Nick Nurse said has been affecting other members of the team.

Through 14 games, Trent is averaging 16.6 points per game while shooting 41.5 percent from the field and 32.6 percent from 3-point range — his lowest mark from beyond the arc since he attempted just 21 3-pointers during his rookie season.

How long will Gary Trent Jr. be out?

It is unclear whether Trent's hip issue has been resolved, but an upcoming break in the Raptors' schedule could limit the amount of time he misses.

After playing in Atlanta on Saturday, Nov. 19, the Raptors return home for a matchup with the Nets on Wednesday, Nov. 23.

Raptors schedule 2022-23

Nov. 26 vs. Mavericks 5 p.m.
