The road to the Olympics goes through Ostend, Belgium, for Canada's women's basketball team.
Ranked a program-high fourth in the world, the Canadians will be gunning for a third straight Olympic berth when they face Belgium, Sweden and Japan in one of four qualification tournaments taking place around the world this month.
Led by head coach Lisa Thomaidis, Canada will play three games in a group stage format. The highest-ranked team in its group, the Canadians will be favoured to be one of the three teams to advance to Tokyo (two qualifiers plus host Japan)
A total of 12 teams will qualify for the Summer Games through the four concurrent tournaments, with Japan and world champion United States already assured of spots in the quadrennial sporting festival.
