The Cavaliers have been one of the NBA's hottest teams since the calendar flipped to 2024, but they'll need a clean bill of health to make noise in fast-approaching playoffs.

With six weeks remaining in the regular season, Cavs All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell has been plagued by a bothersome left knee. Mitchell, a major catalyst during Cleveland's run, has missed four of the team's first seven games out of the All-Star break, a concerning development for a team with high aspirations.

What is Donovan Mitchell's injury?

Mitchell is dealing with left knee soreness, per the NBA's official injury report.

Mitchell's first two absences out of the All-Star break were due to illness. He was first listed on Cleveland's injury report with knee soreness ahead of its March 1 meeting with Detroit.

It is unclear whether or not Mitchell aggravated his knee in his last outing. He last played on Feb. 28 and saw 44 minutes of action in an overtime loss to the Bulls. 

How long is Donovan Mitchell out?

Mitchell will miss Cleveland's next three games after receiving a Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) injection to treat a bone bruise in his left knee, the team announced on March 4. He is set to be re-evaluated over the weekend.

Cleveland is in a stretch of important games as it looks to hold on to one of the East's top-four seeds.
