Canada's women's basketball team is making their third straight appearance in the Olympics.
In the 2012 Olympic Games in London, Canada finished in eighth place. In the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, they placed eighth.
With its best finish at the Olympics being fourth (1984), Canada is looking to medal for the first time.
Canada is in Group A alongside Spain, Serbia and South Korea at the Tokyo Olympics.
After losing their first game to Serbia , Canada bounced back defeating South Korea 74-53 . Bridget Carleton led the way for Canada with 18 points, seven rebounds, four assists while shooting 54.5 percent from the field. Natalie Achonwa and Kayla Alexander poured in 14 and 10 points respectively in the win.
Canada will now turn their attention to an all-important game on Sunday against Spain. The last time these teams played at the Olympics in Rio in 2016, Spain defeated Canada 73-60.
