The Bucks made a move to improve their roster at the trade deadline and they could test out their new look against the visiting Nuggets on Monday.
Milwaukee acquired Patrick Beverley from the 76ers in exchange for Cameron Payne and a second-round pick. Beverley, 35, is now reunited with coach Doc Rivers after their time together with the Clippers. The Bucks have been looking to strengthen their perimeter defense and Beverly should give them a boost.
Rivers earned his 1,099th regular-season win with a 120-84 victory over Charlotte on Friday night to move into eighth place ahead of Larry Brown on the NBA's all-time list.
Giannis Antetokounmpo had 15 points and 15 rebounds in 24 minutes, and Damian Lillard scored 26 points after missing the previous two games with a sprained ankle.
Malik Beasley made seven 3-pointers on nine attempts and finished with 21 points for Milwaukee, which improved to 2-5 under Rivers, who replaced Adrian Griffin.
The defending champion Nuggets mostly stood pat at the deadline despite being in the heat of the playoff race. Denver's only move involved the rights to a player who wasn’t on their 18-man roster.
The Nuggets have been on a roll lately but lost to the Kings 135-106 on Friday night. It was Denver's first loss in four games and the Nuggets missed a chance to move past the Timberwolves for the top spot in the Western Conference.
Aaron Gordon scored 14 points, Christian Braun added 13 and Jamal Murray had 12 for the Nuggets, who were playing on the second-half of a back-to-back after beating the Lakers in Los Angeles on Thursday night.
Now, Denver will get a little break before playing Milwaukee.
