It's rare for a player to appear on the cover of a video game series multiple times, but the new star of the Lakers has done just that within a span of only four years.

Six-time NBA All-Star Anthony Davis has been selected to appear on the cover of the Standard and Deluxe Editions of "NBA 2K20," which releases on Sept. 6.

Davis was also on the cover of "NBA 2K16," although that was a year in which Stephen Curry and James Harden also had their own covers for the game. It was random as to which player consumers would receive on their purchased copy (an insert was included with the others so they could be switched out, however).

It seems unlikely that the cover curse attributed to "NBA 2K" will afflict Davis and the Lakers. That curse has seen players such as LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Paul George, Kyrie Irving get traded or leave in free agency within a year after appearing on the cover.

This year's honor of representing the Legend Edition goes to Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade. Despite an illustrious 16-year career, it's the first time Wade has made the cover of an "NBA 2K" game. He was instead featured on the cover of the competition with "NBA Live 06."

The Standard Edition of "NBA 2K20" will be sold for $60, the Deluxe for $80, and the Legend for $100. Pre-orders will include additional Virtual Currency, cards for use in MyTeam Mode, and various extras for created MyPlayer characters.
