A sprint car driver died Friday night during pre-race practice at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa.
Speedway officals announced that James Campbell Jr. was killed after his car struck the wall in Turn 3 on the half-mile banked clay oval.

Witnesses say Campbell's car began to spew smoke before flipping and catching fire in a multi-car accident during a warmup lap, per The Assoicated Press.
On what had been promoted as "Kids Night," many fans watched in shock as a medical helicopter was dispatched to the speedway, which is 20 minutes southeast of Harrisburg.
Officials canceled the rest of the night's program after the incident.
