Chase Elliott and road courses; name a more iconic duo.
The driver of the No. 9 Chevrolet on Saturday earned his third pole of the season on the fifth road course of the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series schedule. Not that the series points leader needed help in the standings, but having a little extra cushion can't hurt in the penultimate race of the regular season.

Elliott on the pole will only further cement him at the top of the NASCAR Cup standings, both in regular-season points (first, with 882) and playoff points (first, with 2,040). He has four wins this season, two more than the group of six drivers with two apiece.
Elliott also has seven career road course victories, the most of any active driver.
