NASCAR lineup at Road America: Starting order, pole for Kwik Trip 250 based on qualifying image

The grid for the Kwik Trip 250 at Road America is set, and last year's winner will be starting from the pole position.

Chase Elliott looked outstanding in Saturday's qualifying, edging out Chase Briscoe for the top spot.

Elliott, the 2020 Cup Series champion and the current series points leader (by five over Ross Chastain), will look to make it back-to-back wins Sunday. He won the Ally 400 at Nashville Superspeedway last weekend.

If Elliott can use his position to its fullest potential Sunday, he may be able to build a bit of a cushion in the standings.

Who won the pole for the NASCAR race at Road America?

Chase Elliott will be in a much more advantageous position at Road America this year than he was last season.

After starting 34th last year, Elliott will be starting from the pole after posting a qualifying time of 2 minutes, 14.427 seconds, edging out Chase Briscoe by 38 one-thousandths of a second. Elliott, who won at Road America last year despite not posting a lap in qualifying, drove confidently Saturday.

"It was a little more fun that I thought it was going to be, for sure," Elliott said, per NBC Sports. "Hopefully, the results are the same (Sunday) as they were last year. That’s what’s important."
