The Cup Series playoffs heads to the Queen City for the Bank of America Roval 400.
LIVE: Follow the Bank of America Roval 400 playoff elimination race at Charlotte
The last race that took place at "America's Home for Racing" was an absolute barnburner. Denny Hamlin outlasted Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Kyle Busch in double overtime at the Coca-Cola 600, capturing his second checkered flag of the season.
It was the sort of race that Charlotte Motor Speedway has become known for, full of twists, turns ... and gnarly wrecks.
Hamlin sits in a fairly comfortable position heading into the final race of the Round of 12. He's 21 points above the cut line and coming off an impressive display at Talladega, where he finished fifth. Hamlin has tended to put up solid showings at Charlotte — he has nine top-five finishes at the oval-shaped track since 2015. If he can string together another decent display, he could punch his ticket into the Round of 8 and put himself one step closer to claiming his first Cup Series title.
