It was Denny Hamlin's time to shine back home last year.
Hamlin, who grew up in Chesterfield, Va., had won at Martinsville Speedway and Richmond Raceway to claim victories in his home state, but he had yet to reach Victory Lane in the Toyota Owners 400, the Richmond spring race.
Hamlin finally picked up that win last April, beating Kevin Harvick by more than half a second.
Hamlin looks poised to race well again Sunday in the 2023 Toyota Owners 400. He has always raced well on shorter tracks, and he has been in the top five at Richmond in 10 of the past 12 races there between the Toyota Owners 400 and the Federated Auto Parts 400, which he has won three times.
How will Hamlin fare in his encore to last year's victory? A win this year would be his first of the season and move him up from 14th in the Cup Series standings.
