NASCAR at Kansas results: Brad Keselowski holds off Alex Bowman in overtime to win Digital Ally 400 image

Brad Keselowski far from led the most laps, but the only the only lap that matters is the one when the checkered flag is waving. The driver of the Team Penske No. 2 car led just 12 of 271 laps — including both overtime laps — to capture his third Monster Energy Cup Series win of the season Saturday night at Kansas Speedway.

Keselowski barely held off Alex Bowman, who finished second for the third week in a row. Bowman led 63 laps and a majority of the final stage until he ran into trouble with six laps to go while trying to manuever past several lapped cars. Erik Jones rounded out the top three, his second third-place finish of the season.

Hometown favorite Clint Bowyer finished fifth and was the best finisher for a Stewart-Haas Racing team that appeared poised to finally break into the win column this season after Friday's qualifying. The four SHR drivers finished with the top four qualifying times, but Daniel Suarez and Aric Almirola's cars failed prerace inspection, sending the teammates to the rear for the start.

Pole-sitter Kevin Harvick won Stage 1 and led a race-high 105 laps, but he had to make an unscheduled green-flag pit stop on Lap 180 after a windshield tear-off landed on the No. 4 car. The stop dropped Harvick to 27th place and put him a lap down.

Kyle Busch experienced similar disappointment after appearing to take the lead on a caution with 50 laps left. He was sent to the rear as the penalty for driving through too many pit boxes. Busch finished 30th, ending his record-tying streak of 11 consecutive top-10 finishes.

Drivers head to Charlotte Motor Speedway for the Monster Energy All-Star Race, a non-points invitational, on May 18.

10:59 p.m.: Brad Keselowski holds off the crowd in a clean overtime for his third win of his season.

10:56 p.m.: As we wait for the restart, Kyle Busch's streak of 11 straight top-10 finishes has come to an end tonight.

10:50 p.m.: A caution with four laps. This race is going to go to overtime. It'll be a two lap shootout if the leader takes the white flag without a caution.

10:48 p.m.: Keselowski takes first with six laps to go as Bowman runs into some lap cars.

10:45 p.m.: 10 laps to the finish with Bowman in first, Keselowski second, Jones third and Jimmie Johnson fourth.

10:40 p.m.: Some really agressive driving and several near-crashes on the restart. Kyle Busch's fender cuts into his tire, forcing him to pit with 19 laps remaining. Bowman is in first.

10:37 p.m.: Kevin Harvick is back on the lead lap and in 14th.

10:33 p.m.: Another caution flag is out as Ryan Blaney blows a tire and loses several pieces from his rear bumper. 27 laps to go.

10:29 p.m.: Elliott is back in the lead with 34 laps left. Rookie Tyler Reddick is in fourth.

10:26 p.m.: Erik Jones is complaining that he didn't pit, so he should be in first at the restart.

10:24 p.m.: So after the penalty, Bowman will restart in first with Kyle Busch in 30th.

10:20 p.m.: Penalty, though, for Busch. Called for driving through too many boxes. Busch says on the radio that the only reason he was called for it was because he criticized NASCAR's rules package this week.

10:15 p.m.: Kyle Busch leads them off pit road. He has had the best pit crew all season.

10:12 p.m.: The caution was for a Ryan Newman tire that rolled into the infield.

10:10 p.m.: Caution flag is out with 50 laps. Seven cars were on the lead lap.

10:06 p.m.: Bowman has opened up a 4.0-second lead over Busch with 55 laps to go.

10 p.m.: After spending the first two stages dealing with handling issues, Kyle Busch has somehow fought his way up to second.

9:56 p.m.: Tough luck for Harvick. He has a lot of ground to make up, but if anyone can do it today, it will be the No. 4 car.

9:49 p.m.: Harvick is complaining of an issue on the right front of his car. He gives up the lead as he rolls into pit road with 87 laps to go.

9:42 p.m.: Harvick will take the lead at the restart after Elliott's crew had some trouble on pit road removing his rear right tire.

9:35 p.m.: Chase Elliott wins Stage 2, his second stage win of the season. Kevin Harvick and Erik Jones round out the top three.

9:26 p.m.: Everyone has finally pitted, and Chase Elliot leads the pack.

9:19 p.m.: Now Buescher heads to pit road. Just 10 cars remain on the lead lap. Ricky Stenhouse moves to first.

9:15 p.m.: Most drivers start heading to pit road with 36 laps left in Stage 2. Chris Buescher is the new leader.

9:09 p.m.: Kyle Busch is still really struggling with his car. He sits in 12th with his top-10 streak on the line.

8:58 p.m.: This is truly Harvick's race. It didn't take him long to take back the lead.

8:54 p.m.: Kurt Busch will be the new leader on the restart after taking just two tires.

8:46 p.m.: Harvick takes Stage 1. Chase Elliot and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. were close behind.

8:41 p.m.: Second time today Busch has had some difficulty steering his car. He quickly drops to 12th. Harvick retakes the lead.

8:37 p.m.: William Byron will restart from the back for a pit road penalty. Kyle Busch is first off pit road.

8:32 p.m: Caution flag on Lap 61 as Denny Hamlin spins out.

8:26 p.m.: Harvick is definitely being rewarded for taking four tires as he retakes the lead.

8:22 p.m.: Hometown favorite Clint Bowyer takes his first lead of the night.

8:16 p.m.: Kevin Harvick drops from first to tenth. He was one of the few drivers to take four tires, rather than two.

8:11 p.m.: Byron is the first off pit road.

8:09 p.m.: Competition caution for morning rains at Lap 30. William Byron has been impressive in working his way up to second.

8:01 p.m.: Lots of passing early, as the 11 drivers who failed inspection make their ways toward the front.

7:55 p.m.: This is the coolest temperature race of the season so far, which is good news for tires.

7:53 p.m.: Green flag!

7:34 p.m.: And unlike last week, good news on the weather front.

7:26 p.m.: So much for those great starting postions for Stewart-Haas. Aric Almirola and Daniel Suarez will start from the back after their cars failed prerace inspections. Martin Truex Jr. is also among those moving to the back.
