NASCAR All-Star Race results: Kyle Larson wins $1M prize hours after racing way into event image

Just a few hours before the green flag dropped on the 2019 NASCAR All-Star Race, Kyle Larson wasn't even sure he'd be racing in the annual event. A victory in the Monster Energy Open and four stages later, Larson walked away $1 million richer and the All-Star winner at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Larson, who hasn't won a points race since 2017, led the final 13 laps Saturday, holding off Kevin Harvick for the first All-Star Race win of his career. Harvick, in his millennial-themed No. 4 car, led a race-high 33 laps and won the second of four stages. Kyle Busch won Stage 1 and finished third.

The All-Star Race always packs a punch, and this year's iteration didn't fail to deliver on excitement; contact between drivers was frequent and even four-wide racing made an appearance.

From Kyle Newman driving through the infield to Erik Jones blowing two tires and Denny Hamlin spinning out in the final stage, the race was packed with drama and close calls. Fireworks even flew after Larson claimed the checkered flag when Newman and Clint Bowyer got into a small kerfuffle stemming from contact between the drivers' cars during the final laps.

The Monster Energy Cup Series returns to Charlotte Motor Speedway and racing for points next Sunday in the Coca-Cola 600.
