Every 2022 F1 car revealed so far: Mercedes returns to Silver Arrows image

Lewis Hamilton is hoping a change of livery brings a change of luck when he gets back in his Mercedes for the 2022 Formula 1 season.

The Silver Arrows have returned to their classic eponymous livery this year, having raced with a black design since the resumption of racing in 2020.

Indeed, the return of F1 shortly after the global pandemic came at a time when the Black Lives Matter movement dominated headlines. Hamilton, the only black superstar on the grid, helped lead the conversation within the sport on becoming more diverse. Mercedes decided to implement the black design as part of their anti-racism campaign.

Some elements of the design will stay for 2022, albeit in more subtle terms. The new season's car has black trim and the bright jade-green of title sponsor Petronas, as well as stars decorating the engine cover.

Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff explained: "As a team we have grown from the Silver Arrows to slowly becoming a more diverse and inclusive team and therefore our colors going forward will be silver and black."

The cars this season have some technical tweaks from last time around, including an evolution of the cutting-edge turbo-hybrid engines, which will have more standardized parts and will run on E10 biofuel.

They will also have some new safety provisions, including 18-inch Pirelli tires intended to reduce the amount of overheating, and a new design that will separate the chassis from the power unit in the event of a crash without exposing the fuel tank, reducing the risk of a fire like the one suffered by Romain Grosjean in 2020.

Some of the teams have revealed details of the actual car they will be running, and others have just used the standard F1 show car and unveiled their liveries.

Sporting News has rounded them all up below.
