Jared Cannonier looks to spice things up in a convoluted UFC middleweight division by becoming its top contender again. He faces Nassourdine Imavov at UFC Louisville.

Cannonier failed to capture the UFC middleweight title against Israel Adesanya in 2022 but has since won two straight. "The Killa Gorilla" has won ten fights via knockout, and in his last fight against Marvin Vettori, he landed the fourth most significant strikes (+241) in a fight in UFC history.

It is his first fight in a year after suffering a torn MCL. While recovering, he has seen a “circus” develop in the division, with Adesanya, Strickland, and Dricus Du Plessis all part of the show. He is ready to showcase his power and pick up where he left off.

“I’m ready to go and get my hands on this man (Imavov),” Cannonier said via MMA Junkie. “It would be almost a year by the time I get back in the octagon. I’m ready to get back in there and get back to work, put the work in, and get back to what I started in my last fight: more pressure, more intensity, more output. We’ll see if he can last 241 strikes. I’m going in there and putting it on him. I’m going to do it even better than last time.”
