Hometown hero Jack Della Maddalena has pulled off a remarkable victory at UFC 284, submitting Randy Brown inside the first round.

The 26-year-old Perth local was coming into the fight with all the support and he used it to his advantage, landing a flurry of punches and dropping Brown, before locking in the choke and forcing his opponent to tap out.

Della Maddalena blew the roof of the arena in his hometown before the fight even began, coming out to some classic AC/DC, before sending the crowd into raptures after his dominant victory.

The victory came after fellow local favourites Justin Tafa, Josh Culibao and Jamie Mullarkey all secured positive results.

Della Maddalena said post-fight that his next move is a holiday in Bali next month, before asking for a fighter ranked inside the division's top 15 later this year.

The welterweight rising star told The Sporting News prior to the fight that he was out to prove a point to the rest of the division.

“My plan is to put on a masterclass," Della Maddalena said.

“I want to go in there and not be hit and damage Randy from the get-go. I’m in my hometown and I’m focused. I’m ready to put on a good fight for the crowd.

“I always thought it was going to happen- fight here in front of a big crowd in the UFC. It’s a dream come true.”

UFC 284 will be headlined by a massive title fight between Alex Volkanovski and Islam Makhachev
