After coaching against one another on The Ultimate Fighter, Julianna Pena and Amanda Nunes are ready to once again fight inside the octagon. At UFC 277 on July 30, it will be a rematch for the UFC bantamweight title. The fight will take place inside the American Airlines Center in Dallas.

Pena made her pro debut in 2009. She joined the UFC in 2013, winning The Ultimate Fighter 18 as a member of Miesha Tate’s team. Early knee injuries resulted in a setback for Pena in 2014, but she returned in full force in 2015. In 2017, Pena lost to Valentina Shevchenko via submission. She went 2-1 after that, beating Sara McMann via submission at UFC 257 in 2021.

Nunes made her pro debut in 2008. After competing for Strikeforce and Invicta, Nunes joined the UFC in 2013. After losing to Cat Zingano in 2014, Nunes went on a 12-fight win streak that saw her beat the likes of McMann, Shevchenko, Tate, Ronda Rousey, Raquel Pennington, Cris Cyborg, and Holly Holm. Nunes beat Tate for the UFC bantamweight title in 2016. She successfully defended the belt 6 times. In 2018, Nunes beat Cyborg for the UFC featherweight title.

At UFC 269, Pena overpowered Nunes, who tested positive for COVID before the fight. Pena submitted Nunes in the second round to win the belt.

The co-main event will see Brandon Moreno fight Kai Kara-France for the interim UFC flyweight title. Moreno beat Deiveson Figueiredo at UFC 263 for the belt but lost it against him in a trilogy fight back in January. Kara-France is on a three-fight win streak, and 4-1 since he lost to Moreno in 2019.

Figueiredo, the current champion, is currently healing from a hand injury and will be fighting the winner of this bout.
