For the first time in more than two years, Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal faced off at the UFC 272 pre-fight press conference. Now that the trash-talking is done, it is time to settle things in the octagon.
Covington and Masvidal are ready to compete in a grudge fight at welterweight inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
The pair were teammates at American Top Team but have called one another out since Covington left for MMA Masters. Both have their reasons for having animosity towards one another. Their rivalry got so bad that they had to be removed from American Top Team at some point.

Covington made his pro MMA debut in 2012 and joined the UFC in 2014. A two-time Pac-10 Conference wrestling champion, Covington beat Rafael dos Anjos for the interim UFC welterweight title in 2018.
He is 2-2 in his last four fights since then. Facing UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman for the title twice, he got knocked out by the champion at UFC 245 and lost a rematch to Usman at UFC 268 via unanimous decision.
Masvidal made his MMA debut in 2003. "Gamebred" made his UFC debut in 2013. He is 12-8 for the promotion. After beating Nate Diaz for the BMF title in New York in 2019, Masvidal lost to Usman in multiple fights for the UFC welterweight title. The first bout, at UFC 251, was a last-minute affair for Masvidal as a replacement opponent. The second fight was at UFC 261 and Usman knocked him out.
