Frank Mir and Roy Nelson have had a combined 71 professional mixed martial arts fights in their careers.

Now, the American-bred venerable warriors will step into the cage for a rematch of their May 2011 battle when they clash in the main event of Bellator 231 at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., and live on DAZN, on Friday night.

Mir edged Nelson by unanimous decision back in May 2011, when the two scrapped in the UFC. Mir landed nearly 80 percent of his total strikes that fight, while Nelson connected on nearly 60 percent of his strikes in the war. This rematch figures to be a phonebooth fight as well, with neither veteran taking a step back.

Of course, Mir and Nelson being deep into the twilight of their respective careers mean the two have seen better days entering this bout.

Mir, 40, is coming off of four straight losses and has tasted defeat in eight of his last 10 bouts, including a second-round TKO (submission to punches) doled out by Javy Ayala last December. That's telling, considering Mir has defeated the likes of Brock Lesnar, Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira and Mirko Cro Cop over the course of his career.

Meanwhile, the 43-year-old Nelson has lost three straight fights and is just 3-7 over his last 10 bouts. He's coming off a three-round unanimous decision loss to Cro Cop this past February. "Big Country" touts wins over the likes of Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira, Cheick Kongo, Matt Mitrione, and Cro Cop over the course of his career.

Will Nelson exact revenge eight and a half years later or will Mir prove that he had Mir's number then and still has it now?
