Inter Miami captain Lionel Messi celebrates a goal with Luis Suarez and Robert Taylor.

Following back-to-back wins in MLS action, Inter Miami hits the road this weekend to face the Eastern Conference cellar-dwellers.

Inter Miami is set to take on the New England Revolution on Saturday, April 27 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass. The match is set to have MLS No. 1 broadcasting crew of Jake Zivin (play-by-play) and Taylor Twellman (analysis) on the call.

Lionel Messi scored one goal from open play and a penalty kick last week in Inter Miami's 3-1 win over rivals Nashville, and coach Gerardo Martino's side will be really expecting to score goals against the Revolution. Veteran coach Caleb Porter's side have gotten off to a terrible start, with just four points from their first eight games and only five goals scored. Designated Player Carles Gil has three goals this season but no assists, and 19-year-old striker prospect Esmir Bajraktarevic has no goals in seven games.

Luis Suarez on the other side has been a revelation since coming to MLS. He's already scored six goals and recorded four assists in nine games and his partnership up top with Messi is one to watch.

Inter Miami vs New England lineups, team news

New England midfielder Noel Buck was withdrawn just before halftime in the loss to Toronto last weekend, and while his quad injury is mild according to head coach Caleb Porter, he has been held out of this game, replaced by Canadian international Mark-Anthony Kaye.

American international DeJuan Jones is out for a few weeks with a hamstring injury, while fellow full-backs Peyton Miller and Brandon Bye are also shelved for another few weeks, along with offseason signing Jonathan Mensah. Winger Dylan Borrero is out for another month with a knee issue, as is Tommy McNamara with a hamstring problem.

The club traded for former Seattle Sounders center-back Xavier Arreaga this past week, and he slots straight into the starting lineup. An illness has forced the likes of Esmir Bajraktarevic and Bobby Wood to miss the match, while backup goalkeepers Aljaz Ivacic and Earl Edwards are also absent, with the club forced to sign JD Gunn to an emergency short-term deal an hour before the game.

New England starting lineup (3-5-2): Ravas (GK) — Farrell, Kessler, Arreaga — Lima, Kaye, C. Gil, Polster, Boateng — N. Gil, Chancalay.

Inter Miami have an incredibly lengthy injury list, which continues to threaten the squad's place at the top of the Eastern Conference. The latest to succumb to injury is Diego Gomez, who went down with an ankle injury in the win over Nashville last time out, sidelined for 4-6 weeks which is better than the dreaded Achilles tear which was first feared.

He joins the likes of hamstring quartet Serhiy Kryvstov and Jordi Alba on the shelf, while Federico Redondo needs another month or so to recover from his knee injury. However, Robert Taylor and Leonardo Campana have returned to fitness from their hamstring injuries and start, with Luis Suarez named to the bench for some rest in this road match against a struggling opponent.

New midfield signing Matias Rojas is available for this match off the bench, while Brazilian winger Leo Afonso is also a substitute option after assisting a goal off the bench against Nashville in place of Ruiz.

Inter Miami starting lineup (4-3-3): Callender (GK) — Weigandt, Aviles, Freire, Negri — Gressel, Busquets, D. Ruiz — Messi, Campana, Taylor.

Inter Miami vs New England prediction, betting odds & lines

  • Score prediction: Inter Miami 3-0 New England

Inter Miami is on fire recently since their embarrassing departure from the CONCACAF Champions Cup, and it's thanks to the play of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez. The former Barcelona pair were overwhelming to the Sporting KC and Nashville SC defenses, and we can expect the same on Saturday in New England.

In terms of betting, the sportsbooks are giving positive odds on each result, and with Inter Miami having scored three goals in each of their last two games, you can get great odds at +280 for them to score more than 2.5 goals.
