The champagne has barely begun to dry in the Astros' locker room, and already bettors are looking ahead to the future.
The Astros claimed their second World Series title in six years, defeating the underdog Phillies 4-1 in Game 6 to win the series four games to two. But now, it's time for gamblers to start looking ahead to who will win the title in 2023.
There is still a long way to go until pitchers and catchers report in February. There are some huge names in free agency, who could drastically shape the fortunates of a team. There are always a few big trades that shake up the offseason, and surprise retirements, coaching changes and other stages of the next few months will surely change these odds.
That's why, if you're feeling good about a team right now, this could be a good chance to place a decent value bet on someone. Maybe their odds will improve if you think they're destined to land a big bat or arm. Maybe you just have so much confidence that next year, surely, will be the year your team gets it done.
Or perhaps you're just curious to look at who oddsmakers are already viewing as the early favorites to win. The list, unsurprisingly, features many of the usual suspects, including the champion Astros.

Below is an early look at the odds for the 2023 World Series, according to BetMGM.
World Series 2023 odds
The two early favorites for the 2022 World Series are back leading the early odds for 2023.
The Dodgers (+500) might have come up short in their bid for a title in 2022, but the loaded roster has them poised as the early odds-on favorite to hoist the Commissioner's Trophy in 2023. The Astros (+700) aren't that far behind either.
There are only three other teams with odds better than 10-1. The 2021 champion Braves (+800) sit at third, and two heavy-hitting AL East teams, the Blue Jays (+900) and Yankees (+900), are right behind them. Of course, New York's odds could change dramatically based on the decision by likely AL MVP Aaron Judge in his looming free agency.

No team that missed the playoffs in 2022 has better odds than the White Sox (+1400), while no team that made the playoffs has worse odds than the Guardians (+3500), who snuck in and took the AL Central over the highly favored White Sox.
Looking for the longest odds? Those would be a three-way tie between the Pirates, Nationals and Athletics (+15000), with the Reds (+10000) not much better.
