Vladimir Guerrero Jr.'s amazing season hit a definite speed bump on Sunday.

Less than a week after Guerrero landed on the disabled list with a knee injury, the Blue Jays announced that the organization's top prospect will miss at least the next four weeks because of a strained patellar tendon in his left knee.

The 19-year-old stud will be "managed conservatively, including initial rest and will be re-evaluated in four weeks post-injury". This could mean that Guerrero will miss the 2018 Futures Game in July.

Guerrero, who is batting .407 with 11 home runs, 55 RBI and an OPS of 1.124 in 53 games for double-A New Hampshire, was injured Wednesday in a game against Akron -- one in which he was already a par-for-the-course 2-for-2.

There had been much speculation and debate of late about promoting Guerrero to -- at least -- triple-A if not the big leagues, what with the injury woes of Josh Donaldson, who, like Guerrero, plays third base.  The 32-year-old Donaldson is currently on the DL with a calf injury, though he has been taking regular batting and fielding practice. The Blue Jays do not have a target date yet for his return to the lineup.

There is no target date for Guerrero's return, only the four weeks before he will be next medically evaluated.
